Portfolio HighlightsThe Leopard Asia Frontier Fund, a public equity fund, was launched by Leopard Capital Management Ltd on the 30th of March 2012. This fund is an open ended fund that invests in listed equities throughout frontier markets in Asia and global companies that derive the majority of their revenue from this region. The fund objective is to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing in listed equities of companies that have their principal business activities in high-growth frontier markets of Asia. Why invest in public equities in frontier markets?
How do we manage risk?
The fund focuses on consumer related stocks (consumer staples and consumer discretionary), financials and infrastructure related stocks. Additionally we would invest in country specific sectors/stocks like tourism in Sri Lanka or mining in Mongolia and Papua New Guinea. The manager invests mostly in large cap and liquid stocks and would allocate between 2% to 5% to any one stock. Since this was the first time the net asset value (NAV) involving some 24 share classes was calculated and adjusted for numerous currencies, the administrator took longer than anticipated to calculate the findings.
